Recent Project

Yarrabah South Telecommunications Tower

Although only 55 kilometres from Cairns, Yarrabah was almost cut off digitally – Geographically isolated and socioeconomically disadvantaged, with a long-standing lack of digital infrastructure. The build site offered multiple challenges: cultural sensitivity, limited road access via seasonally wet roads, screw pile installation in wet-areas, and careful heavy equipment coordination across difficult terrain. Strict COVID-era constraints affected supply chains and workforce availability. Additionally, stakeholder engagement was essential: requiring careful coordination with Gunggandji and Yidinji Traditional Owners, Gunggandji Aboriginal Corporation, and Yarrabah Shire Council to to ensure the project honoured cultural expectations and community goals & priorities.

The Challenge

HARDLINE GROUP delivered a full-scope solution encompassing design validation, logistics, and end-to-end in house construction and erection. We overcame transport constraints with pre-staged mobilisation plans, and partnered with local leaders to embed community participation and cultural protocols. Safety and environmental standards were upheld while coordinating with limited regional resources. The tower delivery was integrated with broader digital and economic uplift initiatives for Yarrabah.

The Approach

Delivered on schedule and without incident, the 50 m lattice tower now supplies reliable mobile and data coverage to a previously underserved region, enabling better communication, health services, and educational access. The project earned recognition in Indara’s 2025 Safety Excellence Awards, generated coverage in 13 news outlets, and has long since been praised by local stakeholders for its respectful delivery, long-term impact, and alignment with community needs.
